Language and Music – Interdisciplinary Workshop on Rhythm, Prosody and Song Text Analysis
This workshop on language and music brings together experts from linguistics, musicology and literature to discuss approaches to analyze the language used in songs. What is special about sung language? How do rhythm, metrics and prosody pattern together in songs? How can song texts be analyzed best, taking into account the various levels of musical (melodic and rhythmic), linguistic, textual and other performative elements, and their interaction? Expert talks from the three disciplines will show advances and desiderata in research. In a second step, an interdisciplinary approach to a multi-level analysis of song texts is discussed along song text examples from various languages.
Teilnehmer sind u.a.: Simone Falk (München/Aix-en-Provence), Christoph Gabriel (Hamburg), Gabriele Menz (München), Manfred Hermann Schmid (Tübingen).
