Researching Dynamic Politics: Data, Methods, Theories

Workshop unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Klaus H. Goetz (CAS Research Group/LMU).

28.11.2019 – 29.11.2019

The workshop examines how new types of data available to political scientists (and social science more generally), such as "big data" or very large corpora of texts, may allow novel insights into the origins and developmental patterns of dynamic change; how methodological refinement and innovation and the use of methods hitherto uncommon in political science, such as experiments, enable empirical advances; and how theory grapples with evidence of seeming randomness or unpredictability. The aim is to identify how novel combinations of data, methods, and theories may help to make sense of turbulence, temporality, and transformation.

Teilnehmer sind u.a.: Christopher Ansell (Berkeley), Ruth Dassonneville (Montreal), Keith Dowding (Canberra/CAS Fellow), André Kaiser (Köln), Moshe Maor (Hebrew University), Helen Margetts (Oxford), Gianni Del Panta (Siena/CAS Fellow).
