Internationaler Workshop – "Building Blocks of Life"
Synthetic biology is a young interdisciplinary branch within Life Sciences. Synthetic biology refers to both the design and fabrication of biological components and systems that do not already exist in the natural world as well as the re-design and fabrication of existing biological systems. The first workshop within the course of the CAS research focus “Synthetic Biology” starts at the molecular level, e.g. DNA and proteins. Biologists, chemists, physicists, engineers and computer scientists will discuss new conceptual ideas of the design and re-design of different functional building blocks of life, so called biobricks.
Teilnehmer sind u.a.: Martin Sumser (LMU), Barry Canton (Ginkgo BioWorks, Boston), Victor Sourjik (ZMBH, University Heidelberg) und Friedrich C. Simmel (TUM).
