Interpreting Transcendence: An Interdisciplinary Dialogue
Internationale Tagung unter Leitung von Dr. Jenny Ponzo (LMU Research Fellow).
18.06.2015 – 19.06.2015
In recent years, the notion of transcendence seems to be gaining importance in academic discourse, involving a variety of disciplines using different methodological approaches. Such an interdisciplinary debate is leading to a new definition of transcendence that is not ontological, but rather sociological, and thus subject to scientific as well as humanistic scrutiny. This conference is designed to gather international specialists in the fields of comparative history and sociology of religion, anthropology, semiotics, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Asiatic religions and theologies in order to elaborate a more sophisticated definition of this category.
Teilnehmer sind u.a.: Gustavo Benavides (Villanova University), Ward Blanton (Kent), Massimo Leone (Turin), Yvonne Sherwood (Kent), Ugo Volli (Turin).
