Prof. Julie Golomb, Ph.D.

Julie Golomb is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Ohio State University, where she directs the Vision and Cognitive Neuroscience Lab and is head of the Cognitive Neuroscience Ph.D. program. She received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Yale University and was a post-doctoral fellow at MIT before joining the faculty at Ohio State in 2012. She has won early career awards including Sloan Research Fellow in Neuroscience, APA Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology, APF Fantz Award, and Federation of Associations in Behavioral and Brain Sciences Early Career Impact Award.

Golomb’s research explores the interactions between visual attention, perception, memory, and eye movements. Her lab uses a combination of methodologies including human behavior, neuroimaging, and computational analyses. A recent focus of her work has been investigating the broader consequences of dynamic spatial attention and visual distraction, including distorted visual perception, working memory intrusions, and disrupted attentional filters.

She is a Visiting Fellow in July 2022 in the context of the CAS Research Group „Handling Visual Distraction" led by Prof. Dr. Hermann Müller.
