Manuel Bautista ist Professor für Physik an der Western Michigan University.
Seine Hauptforschungsgebiete sind atomare und molekulare Prozesse in astrophysikalischen Plasmen, die theoretische Berechnung von atomaren und molekularen Parametern und die Photoionisations-Modellierung von Plasmen. Mit seiner Expertise unterstützt er Barbara Ercolano's Gruppe bei der Untersuchung von atomarer und molekularer Wechselwirkungen von Strahlung mit protoplanetaren Scheiben.
Manuel Bautista ist Mitglied der CAS Research Group "The Ionisation Structure of Planet Forming Discs and their Atmospheres" von Prof. Dr. Barbara Ercolano.
