Nicholas Thomas ist Professor am Institut für Sozialanthropologie der Universität Cambridge und seit 2006 Direktor und Kurator des Museums für Archäologie und Anthropologie.
Er ist Autor und Herausgeber von fast fünfzig Büchern und Ausstellungskatalogen. Seine aktuelle Arbeit, die auf der Publikation The Return of Curiosity: what museums are good for in the twenty-first century (2016) aufbaut, konzentriert sich auf die Geschichte und Zukunft von Museen.
Nicholas Thomas ist Visiting Fellow am CAS im Juni 2022 auf Einladung von Prof. Dr. Philipp Schorch (CAS Schwerpunkt „Museology“). Er nimmt am Symposium „What Can Museum Anthropology Do in the 21st Century?” teil.
