Dr. Douglas Hedley

Douglas Hedley ist Reader in Hermeneutics and Metaphysics an der Faculty of Divinity, Cambridge University, an welcher er zudem Fellow am Clare College ist.

Nach Abschluss seines Studiums in Oxford wurde er an der LMU München promoviert, danach lehrte er in Nottingham und Cambridge. Als CAS Visiting Fellow wird er am dritten Band einer von Continuum veröffentlichten Trilogie zum Thema Imagination arbeiten; die bisher publizierten Bände heißen "Living Forms of the Imagination" (2008) und "Sacrifice Imagined" (2011). Das letzte Buch in dieser Reihe, "The Iconic Imagination", soll ebenfalls romantische Themen in einem gegenwärtigen philosophisch-theologischen Kontext, mit spezifischem Bezug auf Begriffe von Einbildungskraft, Schönheit und Einheit, kritisch entwickeln.

Douglas Hedley ist im April 2012 auf Einladung von Dr. James Vigus als Visiting Fellow am CAS und wird während seines Aufenthaltes in dem von James Vigus geführten Forschungsprojekt Forschungsprojekt "From Unitarianism to Romanticism: Philosophical Necessity and Aesthetic Autonomy" mitarbeiten. In diesem Rahmen nimmt er an dem Workshop "The Idea of the Fall and European Romantic Aesthetics" am CAS teil und hält am 17. April einen Vortrag mit dem Titel: "From the Cambridge Platonists to English Romanticism".
