Suvarna Alladi is Professor of Neurology at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore, India.

She specializes in cognitive and behavioral neurology and has around 20 years of clinical, training and research experience in dementia. She established one of the first memory clinics in India and coordinates a multidisciplinary specialist service more than 4000 individuals with cognitive disorders. Recognizing the limited availability of diagnostic tests for dementia in diverse contexts, her team adapted a neurocognitive battery for different Indian languages. Her work focuses on investigating complex influence of life-course experiences, especially bilingualism, education and social engagement to understand development of resilience against dementia.

Suvarna Alladi is Vice-Chair of ISTAART, Alzheimer’s Association, Co- Chair of the Special Interest group on Bilingualism and Languages of the Alzheimer’s Association, and Chair of World Federation of Neurology, Research group on Aphasia Dementia & Cognitive disorders.

She is a Visiting Fellow at CAS at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Nikolaos Koutsouleris (Medicine, LMU) and Prof. Dr. Johannes Levin (Medicine, LMU) in the context of the CAS Research Group Tools for Transnational Neuropsychiatric Research.
