Roland Bauerschmidt is a Lecturer associated to the Statistical Laboratory, in the Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics, at the University of Cambridge. His mathematical research interests are in probability theory and analysis, with a particular emphasis on the intersection with statistical mechanics. Important themes in his research are the study of the interaction of many length scales, renormalisation, and the emergence of universal behaviour. Roland Bauerschmidt is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in April 2018 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Markus Heydenreich. On 9 April he will speak about "Renormalisation of Classial Spin Systems" at the Mathematical Institut of LMU.
