Philosophy

Pilar Lopez-Cantero is Assistant Professor in Philosophy at Tilburg University. Previously, she was a full-time Lecturer in Ethics and Philosophy of Technology at Delft University of Technology, and Teaching Assistant at the University of Manchester. She obtained her Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Manchester in 2019, with a thesis titled Being in Love: A Narrative Account.

Pilar Lopez-Cantero’s research chiefly focuses on personal relationships, specifically friendship and romantic love. Her work sits in the intersection between ethics, moral psychology and social philosophy (particularly feminist philosophy). She published several papers on the end of relationships in Philosophia and Ethical Theory of Moral Practice, and wrote several contributions to edited volumes and book reviews. She is also interested in political cosmopolitanism and the link between self-concept and autonomy.

Pilar Lopez-Cantero is member of the CAS Research Group "Relationships in Transition: Normative Challenges" of Prof. Dr. Monika Betzler.
