Visiting Fellow, CAS Research Focus “Nucleic Acid Therapeutics”

University of Michigan

Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chemical Engineering

Peter M. Tessier is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan.

His research aim is to develop best-in-class therapeutic antibodies and apply them to address multiple key biomedical challenges. To accomplish this, he develops next-generation technologies for designing, discovering, engineering, characterizing, formulating and delivering therapeutic antibodies. His technology development efforts are focused in three main areas:

  • Protein engineering and directed evolution
  • Biomolecular screening and high-throughput characterization
  • Machine learning and computational predictions

His interdisciplinary research program uses experimental and computational approaches for generating new fundamental insights into protein structure and function, molecular origins of protein-protein interactions, and molecular determinants of key antibody properties (stability, solubility, specificity and affinity). His development of novel high-throughput screening and machine learning methods is focused on discovering therapeutic antibody candidates with drug-like properties.

Peter M. Tessier is a Visiting Fellow at CAS from September to December 2024 at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Olivia Merkel (LMU) and part of the CAS Research Focus Nucleic Acid Therapeutics.
