Matthias Schroeter is Professor of Cognitive Neuropsychiatry at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive & Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Department of Neurology.

He works clinically as a consultant and specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy at the Clinic of Cognitive Neurology, University of Leipzig. His research focusses on the conceptual understanding, early differential diagnosis and treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders, ranging from schizophrenia to dementia. Methodologically, he applies several imaging methods, meta-analytical tools and machine learning. His work is embedded into a translational framework between basic research and clinical needs, finally aiming at improving health care for individual patients.

He is a Visiting Fellow at CAS at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Nikolaos Koutsouleris (Medicine, LMU) and Prof. Dr. Johannes Levin (Medicine, LMU) in the context of the CAS Research Group Tools for Transnational Neuropsychiatric Research.
