Issam El Naqa is founding Chair of Machine Learning Department and senior member of the Radiation Oncology Department at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa.
His general research interests are in the areas of oncology bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, machine learning algorithms, multimodality image analysis and treatment outcome modelling. He operates at the interface of physics, biology and engineering.
Issam El Naqa is at the CAS in October 2022 at the invitation of Prof. Dr. Katia Parodi as part of the CAS Research Focus “Next Generation AI”. On 20 October, he will give a lecture together with Julia Lane on “Perils and Pitfalls of AI in Radiological Sciences and How Data Democratisation Can Help”.
