Participatory Autism Research

Workshop unter Leitung von Dr. Tobias Schuwerk (Junior Researcher in Residence).

Traditional autism research is interdisciplinary and cooperative. It is thus astonishing that no attempts were made earlier to systematically include a very specific group of experts in the development and implementation of research programs: people with autism. The aim of this workshop is to bring together autism researchers, people with autism and their loved ones, as well as specialists (therapists, teachers, tutors) in order to create a framework for autism research that is not only theoretically significant, but also has practical relevance for people with autism and their surroundings. In cooperation with representatives of national and international pioneer projects, an agenda of socialcognitive autism research will be developed which is innovative, practically relevant and directly significant for study participants with autism.

Teilnehmer sind u.a.: Sander Begeer (VU Amsterdam), James Cusack (Autistica, London), Isabel Dziobek (HU Berlin), Sue Fletcher-Watson (Edinburgh), Silke Lipinski (HU Berlin), Leonhard Schilbach (MPI für Psychiatrie, München).
