Comprehensive Imaging in Heart Failure

Referent: Prof. Dr. Jeroen J. Bax | Moderation: Prof. Dr. Christian Weber (LMU)

23.01.2018 um 18:30 Uhr

The success of cardiology has become evident over the past 60 years, especially with the improved diagnosis and treatment of myocardial infarction and coronary artery disease. At the same time, heart failure, occuring mostly secondary to coronary artery disease ("ischemic cardiomyopathy"), has become an increasingly important problem. Much improvement has been achieved both with medical and interventional therapy, but also with the use of new devices. The problem of heart failure calls for a systematic and analytical diagnostic approach, which largely involves imaging. This choice of imaging techniques should be guided by the diagnostic questions and therapeutic considerations in order to avoid “overuse“ but at the same to practice “patient-tailored therapy“ to provide the best care to each individual patient.

Jeroen J. Bax ist Professor für Kardiologie im Medical Center der Universität Leiden.
