Synthetic-Biological Tools for Single Cell Analysis

Internationaler Workshop unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Kirsten Jung und Prof. Dr. Thorsten Mascher (LMU).

26.05.2014

Synthetic biology is a discipline which aims at generating tools to genetically (re-)program single cells. But despite significant progress in recent years, it remains a grand challenge to introduce predictable, formalized biological design principles into living organisms. The major reason rests in the astonishing complexity of a single cell: Biological systems are noisy, non-linear, and have not evolved to be easily engineered. The workshop will give new insights into design principles of cellular organization and the effect of phenotypic changes in individual cells in context with population dynamics. Moreover, new tools are presented to implement new functions into single cells.

Teilnehmer sind u.a.: Erez Braun (Haifa), Roland Wedlich-Söldner (Münster), iGEM Teams (Deutschland) – Kurzpräsentationen ihrer Projektideen.
